There is a theme of forgiveness in the movies that have I watched this week. These movies are ones that I have seen before although the impact is equally if not more effective than the first time around. I am referring to the movies, Magnolia and The Crossing Guard.

Magnolia is eccentric and creative in multi-protagonist storytelling. Stellar actors take on characters that need to find forgiveness from their past in order to move on through life. The movie is potent because of the musical interludes and imagery attributing to themes of forgiveness. To quote: "Though we may be through with the past, the past isn't through with us."

The Crossing Guard highlights veterans Jack Nicholson and Angelica Houston in a story about grief and loss of love, self and the inability to forgive. This film is a strong and important story about man and the options to choose life or free-fall into the depth of misery.
