It is wonderful to be a tourist in your own town. My friend, Jaime, is out from Winnipeg and we're painting the town, valley, and city red! It has been fabulous, going places together that I haven't visited for at least 4 years.
Granville Island Public Market was a live version of the Food Network. We ogled colorful and well merchandised berries, snapping pictures happily. We purchased Angelo some yummy butternut squash ravioli and gnocchi. This ensured that he would prepare them. He did, with creamy pesto sauce, a complimentary white wine, and crispy baguettes with balsamic-olive oil dip. So spoiled!
West 4th Avenue turned out to be a fabulous shopping excursion, while Robson reminded us that we are shopping without having jobs - quite a concept really. Kits Beach was a mellow, sandy break from the pavement pounding and a moment reminiscent of childhood exploration while sea shell collecting. Denman, one of my favourite streets, is where we found the Banana Leaf. This Malaysian restaurant was incredibly scrumptious and amazingly cheap! It was packed to the gills which made us feel privileged to have found it. What a delectable feast! We also found a perfect store called Cupcakes. Check out the yummy, pretty sweets before even going there!
Within the Fraser Valley, we have hiked Lindeman Lake, toured my old digs in Abby, visited Bridal Veil Falls, walked Harrison beach area, and driven an electric golfcart while having a few cool beverages at the Falls (not golfing, but enjoying the view and watching my mom hit some killer drives). Hole 11 was simply spectacular.
This tour reminds me that we have the most wonderful stuff within an hour+ of our home. It is something I've had all of my life, but never truly appreciated it until now.
