Egad! Final exams are tough.
I found myself completely prepared for the exam, but not prepared for the actual process of it. What a draining exercise it was. Despite today's final, I am feeling relieved and happy to move forward in my other courses. I figured if I could do that exam, surely my half-marathon will be easier (Eep - it's this weekend). Really.
Isn't it amazing that in the three-hour-moment of the exam, nothing else matters? The ideas of life and the world go away and the scanning of long lost files of learning are pulled out. Drawers open, files askew - the disorganizing and disconcerting activity of testing one's knowledge. Ahhh, yes, this is the path of knowledge. One forgets what it entails, you see.
Cheers, for moving on!

It sounds like you’ve got a lot going on in your life. A half marathon and exams, that’s just too much. But anyways I get “in the zone” during exams and tests all the time. It’s a great feeling after I finish a long test and I leave “the zone” and return to the real world. All my troubles and worries have been blown away for that few hours until I turn in my exam and realize that I have something else stressful that I need to do. Sometimes when I write I can block everything out. I write some of my best stuff when I do this because I don’t doubt myself or change anything. Everything I write comes from within. When I finish writing in the zone I know that I’ve done a good job. When I don’t write in the zone, writing becomes a long struggle that takes much longer than it should. The quality of my writing also suffers. This usually happens when I am forced to write about something that I don’t enjoy. I think that writing for pleasure should be encouraged more than anything else in school because it makes writing more enjoyable as a whole.
